The International Criminal Court’s Chief Prosecutor will update the U.N. Security Council this week on indictments issued for two alleged war criminals in Sudan. Both indictees are suspected of orchestrating systematic campaigns of rape as a tool of war. The update reminds us that as the world works to deploy peacekeepers and reestablish a peace process, we must also work towards justice. Rampant sexual violence is just one symptom of the culture of impunity that pervades Darfur. Until the perpetrators of war crimes are brought to justice, real peace will remain elusive. Read More 11/30/07 - The Deception Continues Sudan’s president Omar Hassan Al-Bashir is once again trying to thwart the will of the international community and threatening to block deployment of peacekeepers for Darfur. "He said he accepted the force unconditionally when the U.N. Security Council were in Khartoum last June," said Larry Rossin, former U.N. Ambassador and board member of the Save Darfur Coalition.
