Here's another cause for alarm: plastic waste have reached even the deepest parts of the oceans and are contaminating and killing our wildlife. Indeed, whatever we throw will come back to us in one form or another..

Metro Manila has it all: overwhelming volume of garbage, smog, biologically dead rivers and creeks, too crowded roads, smoke belching, defective zoning laws, overflowing and(un)sanitary landfills, poor city planning, and an overwhelming population. It probably has the worst environmental issues our country could ever have.. and I am amongst those sitting right in the middle of it. If there is one thing we can start with- in our very own backyards, its dealing with our garbage. Here's how:
1. Segregate our wastes so we know which to re-use, recycle and compost. You will realize that if you can do this, you will be able reduce your daily waste volume to only 5%of the original -which are mostly mixed wastes;
2. Avoid the use of plastic bags, and other non-biodegradable stuff;
3. If you cannot avoid plastic, always look at the bottom of the plastic container so you'll know which ones are recyclable in the Philippines. There's a number inside the triangular chasing arrows and if its 1(PET) or 2(HDPE), then recycling facilities exist. 3 onwards such as PVC, styrene and LDPE should be entirely avoided;
4. Glass is always better than plastic or metal;
5. At fastfoods, if you dont need the plastic utensils, or the ketchup, do return them;
6. Reuse your paper at the office. You can save a lot of trees by doing that;
7. Always remember that waste is a resource until you mix them together..such as by soiling a good paper with food. so segregate properly;
8. Buy only what you need;

It is also good to remember this environmental principle: EVERYTHING WE THROW WILL COME BACK TO US IN ONE FORM OR ANOTHER.

Lets all do our part in saving the world.

Plastic shopping bags have a surprisingly significant environmental impact for something so seemingly harmless. As well as being a blemish (next time you are outside, have a look around – you’ll be amazed at the number of plastic bags littering our street and waterways), plastic shopping bags kill large number of wildlife each year. In the water, plastic bags can be mistaken for jellyfish by wildlife. This makes plastic bag pollution in marine environments particularly dangerous, as birds, whales, seals and turtles ingest the bags then die from intestinal blockages. Disturbingly, it is claimed that plastic bags are the most common man-made item seen by sailors at sea.

The biggest problem with plastic bags is that they do not readily breakdown in the environment, with estimates for the time it takes them to decompose ranging from 20 to 1000 years.

Since the cost is high and having trouble with recycling and some part of problem in reuse, the most sensible option is to cut down on the number of plastic bags that you use, or stop using them altogether. If we can estimate that everyone accepted one less plastic bag every time they went shopping, the number of bags used would be reduced substantially.

Begin with small things, when you wash your dishes, soap all your dishes first then use the water. It's quick and don't need to use a lot of water.

I work at NGO. Our foundation cares about environment and get focus action in there.
I think, if any people cares too why must so hard to find a funding to joint in our programs.
I worried, the people just say that they are care...
Same like NATO (No Action Talk Only)

We are calling for urgent action to save the World's Rainforests from illegal logging, ranching and the soya industry. As each day ends, we are getting closer to the Point of No Return where the Rainforest ecosystem will break down, and will release years of stored carbon into the atmosphere, accelerating Global Warming beyond limits that life can endure on Earth.
