As trees grow, they help stop global warming by removing carbon dioxide from the air, storing carbon in the trees and the soil, and releasing oxygen into the atmosphere.

While they are fighting global warming, trees provide many benefits to all of us, every day. They provide cooling shade, block cold winter winds, attract birds and wildlife, purify our air, prevent soil erosion, clean our water, and add grace and beauty to our homes and communities.

Please plant more trees friends, for humanity's survival. Every day, our planet is sending us warning signals through the many natural calamities that are happening all around us. We must take heed or else...

I think that I shall never see,
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest,
Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast.
A tree who looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray.
A tree that may in summer wear,
A nest of robins in her hair.
Upon whose bosom snow has lain,
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

What a beautiful poem by Joyce Kilmer. But trees have uses other than for aesthetic purposes. Trees act as a carbon sink, absorbing all the harmful carbon dioxide that we humans release in the course of our daily lives. Carbon dioxide is the main greenhouse gas that causes the global warming phenomena. Trees in forests play a vital role in regulating water supplies, helping to minimise both water shortages in times of drought and damaging floods in heavy rains. Trees also reduce soil erosion, thereby conserving soil quality upstream and water quality downstream. Forests also provide habitats for a wide array of plant and animal species, a number of which are threatened with extinction by deforestation.

I strongly believe that we can help combat global warming if we can just plant more trees. What is the population of our country? What is the entire population of the world? If even only one-fourth of that number can each plant just one tree, then imagine how many more trees there would be. So plant trees my dear friends. If you care about the future of humanity. c",)

Pls watch the video in my profile. The music there is an original composition of Marisa Montelibano-Apuan, a supporter of our group KKK, Inc. The song won grand prize in the Asian-American Songwriter's competition, and it was originally written for the disbled. Marisa is, herself, wheel-chair bound (as she suffered from polio when she was a child). Hope you like it.

Greetings!

I am writing in behalf of Mga Kaibigan ng mga Kabataang may Kanser (Friends of Children with Cancer) or KKK, Inc for short. It is a non-stock, non-profit corporation formed in 2007 in Iloilo, Philippines, by a small group of doctors and other concerned citizens, with the objective of providing financial support for chemotherapy to cancer-stricken children. These children come from indigent Filipino families that can even barely feed their members. These poor families never had a budget for medical needs, more so for expensive chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy. In fact, most of these children with cancer die because the necessary treatments were not availed of, due to financial constraints. Costly cancer treatment forces many children and their families to drop their plans for the future and just focus on surviving in the present.

The group is presently supporting the treatments of seven recipients, with ages ranging from 2 to 14. Six of them are diagnosed to have Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia, a type of cancer with a good prognosis, provided that prompt and adequate medications are administered. The other one is a case of a 5-year old female with retinoblastoma (cancer of the eye). She has had her involved eye surgically removed and still requires subsequent chemotherapy. These children come from the Iloilo and Guimaras islands in the Western Visayas part of the Philippines.

I know that you do not know me, but i am taking my chance and writing to whoever might spare me some attention. Personally, in my profession as a doctor (I studied and took up my residency at University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital and is now practicing in Iloilo City), I have been touched by stories of children who are ill, and who senselessly lose their lives only because they were not accorded the proper care and medical treatment. But through this organization (KKK, Inc), I feel that with any help, be it financial or otherwise, we could make a change in somebody's life no matter how small that may be.

The purpose of my letter is to ask for any support that you may possibly contribute, so that at least, these children (and hopefully a lot more in the future) may experience hope, possibly receive a second lease on life, and even live their dreams of a bright tomorrow. Take a peek at our webpage, www.iloilokanserkids.com if you wish to know more about this group.

Our group is at its infancy and we will welcome any type of aid that you can give our recipients, be it monetary, medicines, food, clothings, etc. Since all are recipients come from very poor families, they are all moderately to severely malnourished. Our email address is iloilokanserkids at yahoo dot com, if you want to contact us.

I would like to emphasize the multiplication aspect of your donation to our cause – that while an individual’s contribution may not be sufficient to support the entire treatment course of one patient, the accumulated collection of all our friends’ generosity will. Your donation will surely go far.

Mahatma Gandhi once said, "We must be the change we wish to see in the world." In that spirit, I applaud your own efforts and achievements in making a difference in other people's lives. Without a doubt, each one can make a difference in the life of a child and their family who has almost lost hope.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this message.
