We want to see others firmly corrected, but we refuse corrections ourselves. We take offense when permission is given to others but we do not want our request refused. We want rules to check the activities of others, but we are indignant at restrictions on ourselves. It is clear how rarely we apply to our neighbors the same standards as ourselves.
